President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the Hugpong ng Pagbabago – Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod (HNP-HTL) Davao City District 1 Miting de Avance held at the Davao City Recreation Center in Davao City.
The Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod (HTL) is a Davao City-based political party founded by then mayor and now President Duterte on March 28, 2011.
In August 2018, approximately 6,500 members belonging to the HTL joined the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) regional political party and took their oath of membership. President Duterte’s daughter and incumbent Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is the HNP’s chairperson.
In his speech, President Duterte encouraged the local candidates running in the 2019 midterm election to support each other as they are all members of the HNP and HTL working towards the further development of Davao City.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, vice mayoralty candidate and the President’s son Sebastian Duterte, as well as an estimated crowd of 3,600 composed of Davao City’s second and third district councilor city candidates, local government officials, and HNP-HTL supporters attended the miting de avance.
