President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the grand opening and inauguration of Dusit D2 Davao Hotel and Dusit Thani Residences Davao in his home province.
During the event, President Duterte witnessed the turnover of a token by Mr. Tomas Lorenzo, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Torre Lorenzo Development Corporation (TLDC), to the Armed Forces of the Philippines Educational Benefit System Office (AFP-EBSO). The ceremonial turnover symbolized TLDC’s commitment to donate PhP1 million each year for a period of 10 years.
The AFP-EBSO is a Morale and Welfare Office of the Armed Forces of the Philippines founded to provide various educational benefits to the dependents of the AFP members. Their services cover tuition, miscellaneous fees and allowances for children, spouses, or legal beneficiaries of AFP members enrolled in elementary, high school, or college.
In his speech, President Duterte commended the Torre Lorenzo Development Corporation for its latest venture in Davao City.
“I am optimistic about the boundless opportunities that this project offers to Davao’s socio-economic development. I thus look forward to the hotel’s contribution in boosting tourism and generating employment for my fellow Davaoeños,” the President said.
He also assured the Filipinos that the government would remain dedicated in its efforts to provide a more conducive business environment where businesses may thrive and flourish.
“With the help of the hospitality industry, I am confident that we can pave a wider path towards sustainable progress for Davao and the rest of Mindanao,” the Chief Executive added.
The Dusit Thani complex offers 174 spacious full-service residential units and 120 hotel rooms. It also features a 1,000-capacity ballroom and function rooms.
