“The launch of this landmark ICT infrastructure is also a testament to the people-centered future we are building — a Philippines where technology and human connection go hand in hand,” remarked President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during the grand launching of the VITRO Santa Rosa (VSR) Data Center at Barangay Pulong Santa Cruz in Santa Rosa City, Laguna.
In his speech, President Marcos Jr. described the launch as a ‘landmark moment’ not only for the Province of Laguna but for the entire country, as it expands digital infrastructure beyond Metro Manila and into regional hubs, promoting inclusive development across the nation.
He emphasized that in today’s interconnected world, digital infrastructure is as essential as water and electricity. Data centers, he said, are now at the heart of everyday life, enabling online classes, e-commerce, digital payments, virtual meetings and more.
The Chief Executive also framed the inauguration of the data center as part of the Administration’s broader digital transformation agenda under a Bagong Pilipinas. He cited the Philippines’ recent rise in the Global Innovation Index, from 56th in 2023 to 53rd in 2024, as a reflection of the nation’s efforts to harness innovation as a driver of growth.
Furthermore, he underscored the importance of preparing the Filipino workforce for this digital future. Through the Digital Workforce Competitiveness Act, the government is committed to upskilling citizens and developing a labor force capable of thriving in the global digital economy.
The VSR Data Center stands as the country’s newest and most advanced hyperscale facility, designed to support the massive workloads of global tech giants such as Google, Amazon and Meta.
“The Bagong Pilipinas we aim to achieve is not just about rebuilding — it is about reimagining and transforming. A nation that embraces digital transformation is a nation that secures inclusive progress,” President Marcos Jr. concluded in his speech.
