President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and his fellow leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) participated in the First ASEAN-Australia Biennial Summit on day two of the 28th and 29th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

The traditional photo opportunity of the ASEAN leaders with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull of Australia was done onstage before the start of the Summit proper.

In his welcoming remarks, Prime Minister Turnbull stated that Australia remains committed to be a steadfast partner of ASEAN in education, poverty reduction, security and prosperity, and in combatting terrorism.

“We have much to gain from each other,” the Australian Prime Minister ended.
