President Rodrigo Roa Duterte accorded the outgoing Ambassador of Vietnam to the Philippines, H.E. Truong Trieu Duong, with the ‘Order of Sikatuna,’ rank of Grand Cross and Gold Distinction (Datu, Katangiang Ginto) in a farewell call at Malacañan Palace.

The Ambassador received the distinction after his Embassy’s extensive efforts to further build and develop ties between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Republic of the Philippines.

President Duterte was accompanied in the farewell call by Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Perfecto Yasay, Jr., DFA Office of Asian and Pacific Affairs (ASPAC) Assistant Secretary Millicent Cruz-Paredes, and other DFA officials.

The Order of Sikatuna is the national order of diplomatic merit of the Philippines and is given to diplomats, officials and nationals of foreign states who have rendered outstanding services in fostering, developing and strengthening relations between their country and the Philippines.
