President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. received Her Excellency Marcela Ordoñez Fernández, outgoing Ambassador of Colombia to the Philippines, in a farewell call at the Study Room in Malacañan Palace.

During her meeting with the President, Ambassador Fernández expressed her deep appreciation for the hospitality she received throughout her time in the Philippines.

Concluding her three-and-a-half-year diplomatic posting in the country, the Ambassador also acknowledged the support and collaboration from Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. on sharing best practices in peacebuilding between Colombia and the Philippines.

Ambassador Fernández played a key role in strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations by facilitating the exchange of peace process officials, enabling both countries to learn from each other’s experiences.

In addition to her diplomatic efforts, Ambassador Fernández conveyed Colombia’s support for the Philippines’ bid for a non-permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the 2027–2028 term.
