President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the conferment of the Order of Sikatuna with the Rank of Grand Cross (Datu), Silver Distinction, to H.E. Amanda Gorely, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to the Philippines, in a farewell call at the Study Room of Malacañan Palace.
Ambassador Gorely assumed her position as the Australian Ambassador to the Philippines in 2016. Prior to her posting, she also worked at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in Australia, as Deputy High Commissioner at the Australian High Commission in Wellington, and as the Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) in Geneva, among others.
Deputy Head of Mission Mathieson Kimberley, Defense Attaché Captain Bradley Ian White, and Political Counsellors Caroline Fogarty and Clare Marie Duffield accompanied the outgoing envoy as she received the award.
Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, National Security Council (NSC) Secretary Hermogenes Esperon, Jr., Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary Ernesto Abella, and Philippine Ambassador to Australia Hellen dela Vega also attended the farewell call.
