President Benigno S. Aquino III conferred the Order of Sikatuna with the Rank of Datu (Grand Cross, Silver Distinction) to outgoing Brazilian Ambassador Alcides Gastao Rostand Prates in Malacañang.

The award is in recognition of his numerous contributions in the strengthening of bilateral relations and promotion in such areas like trade, agriculture, agrarian reform and food security between the Philippines and the Federal Republic of Brazil.

The Brazilian envoy was accompanied by Second Secretary and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Brazil in the Philippines Fabiana Arazini Garcia Kanadoglu.

Also present during the occasion were Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario and Chief Presidential Protocol Ambassador Jose Miguel Perez-Rubio.
