President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. received His Excellency Juha Markus Pyykkö, outgoing Ambassador of the Republic of Finland to the Philippines, in a farewell call at the Study Room in Malacañan Palace.

The Finnish Ambassador started his diplomatic mission to the country in 2020 and has worked on strengthening the existing robust bilateral ties between the two nations.

During their meeting, Ambassador Pyykkö emphasized the vibrant relationship between the Philippines and Finland which was formally established in 1955. He expressed his positive anticipation on the reopening of the Philippine Embassy in Helsinki this year, which was closed in 2012.

In response, President Marcos Jr. reaffirmed the robust relations between the two countries, saying that the reopening of the Embassy in Helsinki is crucial and vital in rebuilding strong connections with Finland.

He emphasized that this move provides both nations a solid footing in terms of building relationships and being beneficial not just between Finnish and Filipino people, but with other countries as well.
