President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and President Vo Van Thuong of Vietnam witnessed the signing and exchange of key documents after their bilateral meeting at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi.

Firstly, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Rice Trade Cooperation that would ensure sustainable food supply to the Philippines as the deal guarantees that Vietnam would supply rice to the country amid the impact of climate change, pandemics and other events external to both countries.

Another bilateral document is the MOU on Incident Prevention and Management in the South China Sea that aims to promote cooperation, dialogue and coordination between the Philippines and Vietnam, thereby maintaining a peaceful, friendly and harmonious environment in the South China Sea.

The MOU on Cooperation in Agriculture and Related Fields seeks to establish 19 areas of cooperation in high value crops, livestock, aquaculture, farm management and sustainability, research trainings and exchanges of experts, among others.

Also inked is the MOU on Maritime Cooperation between the coast guards of the two countries that will provide a more extensive partnership through capacity building training, exchanges of personnel and ships for interoperability operations.

Lastly, there was an exchange of documents on Cultural Cooperation Program for 2024-2029 that will expand cultural exchanges and strengthen friendly relations between the Philippines and Vietnam in accordance with the Cultural Agreement signed in 1998.
