President Benigno S. Aquino III joined the Muslim community in celebrating the Eid’l Fitr, a gathering that celebrates the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan, in a formal dinner he hosted at the Malacañan Palace.
In his message, President Aquino reminded everyone that Eid’l Fitr, more than a celebration that marks the end of fasting and prayers for our Muslim brothers should also serve as a reminder of the greater things that can be achieved when Filipinos, regardless of religion, work hand-in-hand. He added that this is exactly the path his administration has undertaken since assuming office.
“By doing what is right and just, we have regained the trust and confidence of our people, and have enabled them to live dignified lives,” he said.
President Aquino also cited the Framework Agreement with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front that signifies a meaningful change born out of true partnership and willingness to sacrifice for the overall nation-building.
In his closing statement, President Aquino called on every Filipinos to reflect on Ramadan as an example of kindness, humility, and devotion to sacrifice, which are essential for a lasting peace in the country.
