“The distribution of more than 2,900 hectares of land to more than 2,000 beneficiaries here in Western Visayas is indeed noteworthy in the pursuit of agrarian reform in our country,” stated President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. as he led the Distribution of Land Titles and Turnover of Support Services at the City of Passi Arena (COPA) in Iloilo.
In his keynote address, President Marcos Jr. acknowledged the tireless dedication of the farmers in Western Visayas, who tend the lands and feed the Filipino people. He noted that the provision of fertilizers, machinery, and facilities will go a long way in realizing the government’s shared endeavor to build a more secure and resilient future for the farms.
Moreover, he mentioned that the distribution of titles in Western Visayas and other areas is set to exceed the nationwide target for land distribution this year. He directed the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) to expedite the distribution of lands to their deserving owners while collaborating with other agencies to deliver all necessary support for the beneficiaries.
To further strengthen the Administration’s commitment to a more resilient and progressive agricultural sector, President Marcos Jr. urged all the beneficiaries to maximize the opportunities that come with their new land titles.
“Habang kayo ay patuloy na nagsisikap, hindi rin kami titigil sa gobyerno na gumawa ng mga hakbang para sa ika-uunlad ninyo—mga hakbang upang palakasin, at pag-tibayin ang inyong kabuhayan, nang makayanan nating makatulong sa iba pang mga Pilipino at makipag-sabayan sa ekonomiya ng ibang mga bansa,” he assured.
He also commended the farmers for their efforts in enhancing Filipino farms and for doubling down on their contributions. He underscored that farmers have a significant role to play in the agricultural sector.
To his end, the Chief Executive enjoined the DAR to empower and continue to pursue food security and economic prosperity for the present and succeeding generations. “Then we can say that every Filipino will begin to live a meaningful and dignified life,” the President concluded in his message.
