Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru and Mrs. Yoshiko Ishiba of Japan conclude their two-day Official Visit to the Philippines, strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries as they depart from the Ages Hangar, Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City on 30 April 2025.
During his visit to Manila, the Japanese Prime Minister paid tribute to Dr. Jose P. Rizal by laying a wreath at the Rizal Monument. He received a welcome ceremony at Malacañan Palace and signed the guest book to signify his official engagement with the Philippine Government.
Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru held a bilateral meeting with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. where they discussed enhancing cooperation across various areas such as economic development, political and defense engagements, and people-to-people exchanges.
Both leaders exchanged views on regional and global developments, tackled key issues such as food security, energy and economic stability, and explored new pathways toward peace and security under the ‘Strengthened Strategic Partnership’ between the Philippines and Japan.
President Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos hosted a banquet in honor of Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru and Mrs. Yoshiko Ishiba of Japan. During their toast, both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation across various sectors in anticipation of the 70th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations in 2026.
