President Benigno S. Aquino III departed Manila past 10 o’clock in the morning for a Working Visit to Paris, France that will see him joining 150 world leaders for the Conference of the Parties (COP21) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC).
“Sa Conference of the Parties o COP21, ibabahagi natin sa ibang bansa ang ating karanasan sa pagharap at pagbangon sa matitinding kalamidad. Sa Climate Vulnerable Forum naman po, magsisilbi tayong kinatawan ng mga bansang pangunahing naaapektuhan ng dumadalas at lumalakas na bugso ng kalamidad na dulot ng pagbabago sa klima,” the President said in his departure statement.
Aside from participating in the COP21, President Aquino will be extending his sympathies to French President Francois Hollande in view of the recent attacks in Paris. He will also meet with business executives and convey to them the continuing surge in the Philippine economy, as well as entice them to invest in the country.
From France, the President will head to Rome, Italy for a meeting with President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Matteo Renzi. He will also witness the signing of several agreements between the two countries, and will take time to interact with the Filipino community.
“Pupunta din po ang ating delegasyon sa Vatican City. Sasaksihan natin doon ang pagbebendisyon sa imahen ng Mahal na Birhen ng Peñafrancia. Dadalaw rin po tayo kay Papa Francisco, upang ipaabot ang ating mga panalangin para sa bansa at sa ating mga kababayan, na alam nating malapit sa kanyang puso,” President Aquino stated.
