President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. warmly welcomed The Right Honourable David Lammy MP, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, during a courtesy call in Malacañan Palace.

Secretary Lammy is on a one-day official visit to solidify the Enhanced Partnership between the Philippines and the United Kingdom (UK) that was launched in 2021 through the signing of the Joint Framework of the Enhanced Partnership.

During the courtesy call, President Marcos Jr. said that the two nations could still boost people-to-people exchanges due to strong relations, citing the significant increase in the number of Filipinos residing and working in the United Kingdom. He conveyed that UK-based Filipinos are grateful for how the United Kingdom has welcomed them.

The discussion also centered on issues regarding trade and investments, maritime, climate change and the environment.

Diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the United Kingdom were formally established on July 4, 1946.
