President Benigno S. Aquino III received Nidec Corporation executives led by President and Chief Executive Officer Shinegobu Nagamori in a courtesy call in Malacañang.
According to Nidec Philippines Deputy General Manager Joy Balagot, Mr. Nagamori wanted to meet the President to discuss the investment and economic climate in the Philippines particularly the stability of the economy because Nidec Corporation is planning to expand its manufacturing business in the country. Nidec will increase manpower, equipment and machineries in its three manufacturing hubs in Laguna Techno Park and one factory in Subic Techno Park.
Nidec Corporation has been manufacturing spindle motors and pivot assemblies for hard disk drives, brushless DC motors, and fan motors in the Philippines since 1995. The products are used for information technology (IT) units, home appliances, automobiles, office equipment and industrial machinery. It is currently employing 20,000 Filipino workers in its four factories in the country.
President Aquino and Mr. Nagamori were joined by Nidec Philippines Corporation President Hiroyuki Fujita, Nidec Philippines Corporation Vice President for Administration Division Makoto Aratake, Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory Domingo and Philippine Economic Zone Authority Director General Lilia de Lima.
