“Can we do it? We shall do it!” said President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in unison with Alibaba Group Founder and Executive Chairman Jack Ma in a courtesy call at the Study Room in Malacañan Palace.

One of the richest men in Asia, Mr. Ma is on a visit to Manila to strengthen Alibaba Group’s investment in the development of the e-commerce industry in the Philippines through its local partner Globe Telecom and Lazada.

During his brief visit in the country, Mr. Ma also received the Honorary Doctor of Science in Technopreneurship Degree from De La Salle University.

The President and Mr. Ma was joined in the meeting by Senator Richard Gordon, Ant Financial Services Group CEO Eric Jing, Ant Financial President of International Business Douglas Feagin, Alibaba Group Vice President and Head of Globalization Leadership Group Zhao Ying, and other key officials from the government and private sectors.
