President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. warmly welcomed Minister Laurent Saint-Martin, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and French Nationals Abroad, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, during a courtesy call at the Study Room in Malacañan Palace.
During the meeting, the President expressed his appreciation for the continued support that France extends to the Philippines. He acknowledged the strength of the bilateral partnership despite the geographical distance between the two nations.
Minister Saint-Martin, in turn, thanked the Philippine Government for its hospitality and conveyed the greetings of French President Emmanuel Macron to President Marcos Jr. and the Filipino people.
This year, the Philippines and France mark 78 years of formal diplomatic relations, having established official ties on June 26, 1947. Over the years, both countries have signed numerous agreements in areas such as air services, cultural and defense cooperation, film collaboration and development assistance.
