President Rodrigo Roa Duterte cordially welcomed His Highness Shaikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports of the Kingdom of Bahrain, in a courtesy call at the Malacañan Palace.
During the course of the event, President Duterte reaffirmed the Philippine government’s commitment in strengthening bilateral relations between the Philippines and the Kingdom of Bahrain, and acknowledged the Kingdom’s assurance to promote and protect the welfare of the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) employed in Bahrain.
“Let me reiterate our deep sense of camaraderie with our people. Also for the humane treatment given to our citizens, thank you very much,” President Duterte said.
In return, His Highness Shaikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa expressed his gratitude with the mutual cooperation between the two countries.
The courtesy call was attended by Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Teodoro Locsin, Jr., Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello III, National Security Council (NSC) Secretary Hermogenes Esperon, Jr., and Special Envoy of the President to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Amable Aguiluz V.
