President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. welcomed Dr. Marcin Czepelak, Secretary-General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), during a courtesy call at the Study Room in Malacañan Palace.
During the call, the Chief Executive reaffirmed the Philippines’ strong commitment to international law and highlighted the PCA’s vital role in the nation’s foreign policy amidst ongoing global challenges.
Dr. Czepelak, on his first visit to the Philippines, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and discussed the prospect of establishing a Host Country Agreement to facilitate PCA hearings within the country.
Established in 1899 by the Convention on the Pacific Settlement of International Disputes, the PCA is the oldest international organization dedicated to peaceful dispute resolution comprising 124 member states, including the Philippines which joined in 2010.
