President Rodrigo Roa Duterte congratulated the newly-elected Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Masatsugu Asakawa in a courtesy call at the Department of Finance (DOF) Building in the City of Manila.

President Duterte also extended his sincere appreciation to the ADB for its unwavering support to the Government of the Philippines and its contribution towards accelerating the progress and development of the nation.

Mr. Asakawa succeeded Mr. Takehiko Nakao as the ADB’s 10th President last January 2020.

Prior to his current designation, the new ADB President served in various senior official positions at the Ministry of Finance of Japan, apart from being Executive Assistant to then Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso.
