President Rodrigo Roa Duterte welcomed the officers of the Japan-Philippine Parliamentarians Friendship League (JPPFL) when the group paid a courtesy call to the President at the Prince Tower Tokyo Hotel in Japan.
Philippine House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez and JPPFL Chairman Hon. Nobuteru Ishihara led the meeting. Other Philippine officials present during the call were Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, Senator Joseph Victor Ejercito, Congressman Arthur Yap, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea and Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay Jr.
On the side of Japan, JPPFL Chief Secretary Hon. Hirofumi Ryu, JPPFL Secretary General Hon. Taku Otsuka, Councilor Satoshi Ninoyu, Councilor Masayoshi Nataniya and Osaka 15th District Representative Naokazu Takemoto also joined the meeting.
JPPFL has been supportive of the Philippines’ development programs, as well as in times of natural calamities that the country underwent. The league has also expressed its support to the Philippines’ previous bid against China over the disputes in the West Philippine Sea.
