President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. welcomed the Honolulu City Council Delegation (HCCD) and participants of the 31st Trade Mission of the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii (FCCH) in a courtesy call at the Heroes Hall in Malacañan Palace.
During the event, FCCH Trade Mission Chair Melody Calisay outlined the primary goal of the trade mission, which is to facilitate the expansion of Filipino entrepreneurs into the United States of America (USA) by fostering connections and exchanging professional insights and knowledge. She emphasizes the significance of governmental assistance, particularly in the area of workforce development, to ensure the success of the annual mission.
Furthermore, FCCH President Susana Berardy and Honolulu City Council Chair Tommy Waters both expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support of the Administration in helping to solidify the objectives of both delegations, thereby contributing to a more prosperous nation in the realm of business.
In response, President Marcos Jr. highlighted the promising prospects of economic and trade relations between the Philippines and Hawaii, USA, emphasizing the importance of trade missions and international cooperation. He believes that these efforts will translate potential into tangible benefits.
The Chief Executive also reassured them of the Administration’s commitment to supporting trade and investments that strengthen the bond between the two nations, ultimately contributing to a more prosperous economy for both.
The Trade Mission is an annual initiative organized by the Chamber with the objective of enhancing economic relations between the Philippines and Hawaii, USA. This year’s mission, which commenced on February 13 and will conclude on February 24, 2024 has brought participants to various areas in the country, including Manila, Sorsogon, Candon and Vigan in Ilocos Sur, San Pedro in Laguna, and Angeles City in Pampanga. The itinerary includes meetings with local government officials, business sector representatives, mini trade shows and product presentations, among others.
