In recognition of his dedication to the country, his integrity and embodiment of a Jesuit education, President Benigno S. Aquino III received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from the Loyola Marymount University (LMU) in Los Angeles, California.
According to LMU President Timothy Law Snyder, Ph.D., “President Aquino represents precisely what we, as educators, mean about helping our students become women and men for and with others. His deep commitment to the Philippine people is a model from which each of us can learn.”
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Congresswoman Maxine Waters were among the guests during the conferral ceremony that is co-sponsored by the School of Education’s Teach for the Philippines Program and the World Policy Institute of the university.
LMU, founded in 1911, is the largest Catholic Jesuit University in the Southwest and ranked third in Best Regional Universities/West by the US News and World Report.
