On the final day of the 40th and 41st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summits and Related Summits, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and his counterparts attended the Closing Ceremony and Handing Over of the ASEAN Chairmanship to Indonesia in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The President congratulated the Kingdom of Cambodia for its diligent efforts in steering the Region during its Chairmanship of ASEAN and expressed his hopes towards cooperating with Indonesia in continuing the regional bloc’s Community Building efforts.

President Joko Widodo of Indonesia formally accepted the ASEAN Chairmanship for 2023 during the program.

The three-day jam-packed schedule of meetings during the Summits concluded with several areas of cooperation tackled and adopted by the ASEAN Leaders and their Dialogue Partners, fulfilling this year’s theme of ‘Addressing Challenges Together’.
