President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. called on Filipinos to remember the victims and those still recovering from the devastation caused by the series of typhoons and other disasters when he led the Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the Kalayaan Grounds in Malacañan Palace.

In his brief message, the President said that every Filipino deserves to celebrate the Christmas season despite the challenges they are facing and urged his countrymen to extend help to those in need.

“And my Christmas wish is that despite everything, that no Filipino has — every Filipino should feel somehow Christmas. Because after all, no matter how many typhoons they throw at us. No matter how many problems are thrown at us, there’s nothing that will quench the Christmas spirit in the Filipino heart. In every child, man, woman Filipino, hindi mo na matatanggal sa Pilipinas ‘yan,” he remarked.

During the program, President Marcos Jr. awarded the top three (3) winners of the National Parol-Making Competition dubbed ‘Isang Bituin, Isang Mithiin,’ by the Office of the President (OP), the Office of the Social Secretary (SoSec) and the Department of Education (DepEd).

The Alice Dance Reyes Philippines (ADRP), Jose Mari Chan and Carla Guevara-Laforteza ignited the stage with their Christmas performances for the First Family, Cabinet members and invited guests.
