“Kung may kailangang ayusin sa irigasyon, dapat may agarang aksyon at matibay na solusyon,” remarked President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during the ceremonial turnover of 229 newly procured operations and maintenance equipment and vehicles under the third tranche of the National Irrigation Administration’s (NIA) Re-fleeting Program at Barangay Wawa in Taguig City.
The President emphasized the importance of modern and efficient equipment in strengthening the country’s agricultural foundation. He underscored how the government’s support aims to ensure that farmers, whether in lowland or upland areas, have access to dependable irrigation systems that help increase productivity, improve crop quality and raise farmers’ incomes.
Highlighting the challenges posed by climate change, President Marcos Jr. acknowledged the increasing risks brought about by prolonged droughts, intensified rainfall and shifting weather patterns, all of which continue to affect crop yields. In response, he said the Re-fleeting Program plays a crucial role in enhancing the nation’s readiness and ability to respond to such environmental threats.
“Hindi po titigil ang Administrasyong ito sa pagpapatupad ng mga programa na magpapabuti ng iyong mga kinabukasan,” he conveyed.
The Chief Executive also called for greater efficiency and accountability within NIA, urging all personnel to properly maintain the newly distributed equipment and strengthen their commitment to public service.
For the President, the continued modernization of the agricultural sector is vital to achieving food security, stable livelihoods and a resilient economy.
“Naniniwala ako na sa ating pagkakaisa, matutupad ang ating pangarap na pagkain sa bawat mesa, hanapbuhay na sapat sa araw-araw at kinabukasang puno ng pag-asa,” President Marcos Jr. concluded in his speech.
