“With this roadmap, we give a clear mandate of ensuring that the money entrusted to us serves a purpose that truly matters… It is a reaffirmation of our collective resolve to build a system that serves not just the present, but the future,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. conveyed as he formally received the final blueprint of the Public Financial Management (PFM) Reforms Roadmap 2024-2028 in a ceremony at Malacañan Palace.

In his remarks, the President noted that the endorsement of the PFM comes at a critical juncture as the government continues its pursuit of meaningful transformation for the nation. The roadmap ensures proper utilization and transparency of public funds to better improve government services such as disaster relief and response actions, public healthcare and social services, among others.

“In this new PFM, we are committed to synchronize planning and budgeting at our local, regional and national levels as well as streamlining our institutional frameworks to reduce the time spent on bureaucratic processes,” he said.

“It emphasizes stronger coordination in resource management, greater capacity building, wider integration of technology and stricter implementation of financial programs across sectors,” the President continued.

Last year, President Marcos Jr. signed Executive Order No. 29 to strengthen the public financial management information systems and streamline its processes. This embraces technological innovation and digitalization to provide efficient services to the Filipino people.

“Because true progress is about moving beyond what we have always done and questioning how much we can be; true progress is about how we find ways to flourish in an ever-changing world,” he stressed.

Likewise, the Chief Executive expressed his gratitude to all the government’s partners, including the Asian Development Bank (ADB), for their helpful contributions in this endeavor and urged them for continued support as the Administration remains relentless in leading the nation to a higher growth trajectory, reducing poverty and achieving genuine prosperity.
