With their homes and livelihoods devastated by typhoon Nina, the people of Catanduanes and Camarines Sur were visited by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and were shown compassion, care and help in a ceremonial distribution of goods in Virac, Catanduanes and Pili, Camarines Sur.

“I know that we have to be here during this time. Dala ko po ang mga tao na makakatulong sa inyo agad,” said the President as he spoke of his cabinet members to the crowd.

President Duterte also urged the people to work in restoring their lives; “The thing is after whatever it is — catastrophe, war, sunog, calamity — is really to go back immediately to normal way… Balik na kayo agad kinabukasan. We go back to normalcy as soon as possible.”

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said in a report that the damage to agriculture and infrastructure in the Philippines has exceeded P5 billion with three people confirmed dead and many more injured.
