President Rodrigo Roa Duterte received the first copy of former President Fidel V. Ramos’ Series of Sermons (Volume XII) entitled ‘Make Change Work!!!’ in its launching at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo in Quezon City.
During the book launch, the Chief Executive commended former President Ramos for his continuous effort to take part in national development even after his term.
“I truly admire your sincerity and concern for the Filipino people. You have remained active in nation-building even after you have finished your term in office,” he said.
President Duterte added that the book is relevant today as the country is facing various challenges in different aspects that demand collective efforts and participation among Filipinos.
“I hope this book will enlighten our countrymen on how to achieve transformation for the betterment of our nation which is by working together. Let us therefore remember that opportunities for a better future for the present and the coming generation is more important than our unfounded reservations. Let us make change work for our people and country,” he added.
Meanwhile, former President Ramos urged every Filipino of all ages and walks of life to work double time together to solve poverty which, he cited, is the primary problem in the country.
“But President Duterte cannot do it alone. Neither can the government do it alone. But when all of us strive together with one goal in mind, and abide by the same precious values and commitments – we become a strong nation, Philippines, able to achieve higher quality of life we have always yearned for – in an environment of peace that shall endure and an environment that should be sustainable.”
The ‘Make Change Work!!!’ book is a compilation of selected weekly columns by the former President in Manila Bulletin. It is a joint project by the Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation and the Ramos Peace and Development (RPDEV) Foundation.
After the presentation of the book’s first copy administered by former President Ramos and Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation President Hermogenes Pobre, President Duterte had a photo opportunity with the RPDEV Board of Trustees and the Ramos family.
President Duterte was accompanied by some of his Cabinet members during the book launch.
