The Philippines and Singapore continued to boost its bilateral relationship as President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore held a bilateral meeting at the Istana in Singapore for the 32nd Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Summits.

Over the years, Singapore has been the biggest trading partner of the Philippines in the entire Southeast Asian region, with investments reaching ten (10) billion dollars in the past years.

Likewise, with approximately 180,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Singapore, it has been one of the Philippines’ major sources of OFW remittances reaching up to 1.75 billion dollars per year.

Aside from these, the Philippines and Singapore continue to improve its relations in various fields of cooperation such as in tourism, maritime security and defense, and cultural ties.
