Following the welcome ceremony, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. held a bilateral meeting with President Vo Van Thuong of Vietnam at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi.

The two leaders are expected to discuss the ever-evolving relations between the two countries and ways of reinforcing bilateral ties with the aim of fostering peace and prosperity between the two countries and the Southeast Asian region.

Bilateral relations between the Philippines and Vietnam was established on 12 July 1976, dating back to the administration of the President’s father, the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. For almost 50 years, various areas of cooperation have been forged on defense, trade, agriculture and culture, among others.

Both leaders will witness the signing and exchange of key bilateral documents after their discussion.
