President Benigno S. Aquino III met with Vietnam President Truong Tan Sang before the start of another round of meeting for the APEC leaders.

Sitting as a member of the Philippine delegation, Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario said that the bilateral talk was a great opportunity to renew the deep friendship between Philippines and Vietnam.

The two leaders also discussed the common challenges they are facing including the territorial disputes on the West Philippine Sea. Vietnam has been a long-time partner and both agreed to closely cooperate with each other towards achieving a peaceful resolution of the issue.

Foreign Affairs Minister Pham Binh Minh, Foreign Affairs Director General Vu Hong Nam, Industry and Trade Minister Vu huy Hoang, Planning and Investment Vice Minister Dan Huy Dong and Presidential Office chairman Đào Việt Trung accompanied the Prime Minister during the meeting.
