“We are fortunate to be in the presence of these outstanding exemplars and to hear tales of their feats and achievements,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. conveyed after leading the conferment of awards to the individual and group winners in the Civil Service Commission’s (CSC) 2024 Search for Outstanding Government Workers in a ceremony at Malacañan Palace.

A total of 28 awardees received the three (3) national honor awards of Presidential Lingkod Bayan, Outstanding Public Officials and Employees Award or Dangal ng Bayan and CSC Pagasa Award.

“Created under the Civil Service Act of 1959, our annual Search for Outstanding Government Workers started as the Employee Suggestions and Incentives Awards System. It was later fortified by my father, then President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., through Presidential Decree No. 807 of 1975, which created the Presidential or Lingkod Bayan and Silangan Awards, the Civil Service Commission or Pagasa Award, and the Agency or Kapwa Award,” the President stated.

“It has been 65 years since we began this practice, and while the acronyms and the titles attached to these awards have changed, the purpose remains the same: to recognize and to honor those who have made an outstanding contribution in the field of public service,” he added.

The Chief Executive lauded this year’s awardees for serving as a shining light on their fellow civil servants, noting that their extraordinary acts and services contributed to the efficiency, economy and improvement of government operations.

He urged them to continue living by the constitutional mandate that public office is a public trust, remain transparent and accountable to the Filipino people, and serve with integrity, loyalty and efficiency.

“So let me congratulate this year’s Outstanding Government Workers. Your exceptional service, complemented by your principles, your virtues, your hard work has truly inspired everyone to strive to make a difference in our society. You serve as the pillars upon which our government can draw its confidence and to build its momentum in achieving a Bagong Pilipinas,” President Marcos Jr. said in his keynote message.
