President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. joined fellow Leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for the ASEAN-Canada Special Summit on Enhancing ASEAN Connectivity and Resilience in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR).
During the Summit, the President highlighted Canada’s commitment to protecting migrant workers and their rights, particularly through initiatives such as the Tripartite Action for the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers in the ASEAN Region (TRIANGLE in ASEAN) Programme. He also underscored the need to safeguard the rights of Filipino workers abroad.
As Canada prepares to lead the G7 in 2025, President Marcos Jr. expressed confidence that its leadership will effectively address global challenges while promoting cooperation among nations.
