President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. arrived at Changi Airport in Singapore following his State Visit to Brunei Darussalam, commencing his two-day Working Visit in Singapore as part of the high-level exchanges between the Philippines and Singapore that began last year.

A major highlight of the Chief Executive’s visit is his participation in the International Institute for Strategic Studies’ (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue 2024 where he is expected to deliver the keynote address to mark the opening of the 21st Asia Security Summit. During this event, President Marcos Jr. is anticipated to articulate the Philippines’ position on crucial global security issues, particularly on ongoing maritime disputes and heightened tensions in the West Philippine Sea.

This annual intergovernmental security forum is attended by over 550 international delegates from more than 40 nations, including defense ministers, military leaders, senior officials, business leaders and security experts.

President Marcos Jr. is also scheduled to hold separate meetings with Singapore’s new Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and former Prime Minister and now Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Additionally, he will hold a bilateral meeting with Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytè.

His Working Visit to Singapore also coincides with the 55th anniversary of Philippines-Singapore diplomatic relations.
