President Rodrigo Roa Duterte arrived at the Vnukovo-2 Airport in Moscow at 11:30 PM to begin his five-day official visit to the Russian Federation.
The President’s visit is upon the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin that was conveyed in the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Peru last November 2016.
Aimed at deepening bilateral relations between the Philippines and Russia, the trip is also expected to mark a new chapter between the two nations. It also sends a strong message of the Philippines’ commitment in seeking new partnerships and strengthening relations with non-traditional partners such as Russia.
