President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. arrived in the Kingdom of Thailand to join his fellow Economic Leaders from the Asia-Pacific region for the 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM).
First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos and the rest of the Philippine delegation joined the President in the trip and were welcomed by Philippine Ambassador to Thailand Milicent Cruz Paredes, Defense Attaché Colonel Roderick Garcia, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam of Thailand and other officials from the Philippine Embassy and the Royal Thai government.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the inaugural participation of President Marcos Jr. to the 29th AELM highlights the Philippines’ economic agenda and priorities, where he is expected to tackle various important matters in terms of trade, investment and post-pandemic economic recovery with his fellow Economic Leaders. His four-day participation includes meetings with his some of his counterparts in the Asia-Pacific region, talks with business leaders and groups, as well as meeting with the Filipino Community in Thailand.
This is the first in-person APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting since the pandemic started in 2020. Hosted by the Kingdom of Thailand, the 29th AELM centers on the theme, ‘Open. Connect. Balance’ and will gather Economic Leaders from 21 Member Economies.
