Vientiane, Lao PDR

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte arrived at Wattay International Airport to officially begin his visit to Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR) and participate in the 28th and 29th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summits and Related Summits from September 6-8, 2016.
The President was on board the Philippine Airlines chartered flight PR001 that took off from the Davao International Airport.
Upon his arrival in the capital city of Vientiane, he was welcomed by Philippine Ambassador to Lao PDR Belinda Ante and Lao PDR officials headed by Minister of Energy and Mines Khammany Inthilath and the Vice Mayor of Vientiane, among others.
President Duterte is accompanied by the Philippine delegation composed of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Perfecto Yasay, Jr., Finance (DOF) Secretary Carlos Dominguez III, National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez, Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Judy Taguiwalo, National Security Adviser (NSA) Hermogenes Esperon, and Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Jesus Dureza.
This is the first foreign visit of President Duterte since being elected as the nation’s Chief Executive last May 2016.
