President Benigno S. Aquino III, together with the Philippine delegation, arrived by 11:00 am at the Tokyo Haneda International Airport via Philippine Airlines chartered flight PR001 to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in a summit meeting between the two leaders at the Old Prime Minister’s Residence in Tokyo, Japan.
According to Charge d’ Affaires Gilberto Asuque of the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, the two leaders will discuss two key issues; the regional security cooperation between the two countries concerning the ongoing territorial disputes on the West Philippine Sea, and the Bangsamoro Peace Agreement where Japan has been the host country to hold the 6th Consolidation for Peace for Mindanao (COP6) which started yesterday (June 23-25) in Hiroshima, Japan.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert Del Rosairo and Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin will join the President’s side during the summit meeting with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
After the summit meeting, President Aquino will fly to Hiroshima, Japan to grace the 6th Consolidation for Peace for Mindanao (COP6) as keynote speaker.
