Canberra, Australia

Reinforcing the longstanding friendship between the Philippines and Australia, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. arrived at the Parliament Courtyard where he is set to meet with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese during the second day of his State Visit to Canberra, Australia.
The President signed the guest book as he entered the Prime Minister’s Office, before proceeding to an expanded bilateral meeting with their respective delegations.
President Marcos Jr.’s visit comes months after he and the Australian Prime Minister signed a Joint Declaration elevating the Philippines-Australia relations to a Strategic Partnership last year, realizing the two nations’ commitment in working together towards achieving an open, prosperous, peaceful and stable region.
During this time, the two leaders held a meeting where they discussed strengthening cooperation on regional and national security, building stronger ties between their respective peoples and enhancing educational links. It was Prime Minister Albanese’s first visit to the country in an official capacity, and the first bilateral visit by an Australian Prime Minister to the Philippines in 20 years.
As they are convening once again, along with their respective delegations, President Marcos Jr. and Prime Minister Albanese are touching on the recent developments in the Philippines-Australia relations, as well as other areas to explore for further collaboration.
