Hanoi, Vietnam

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. commenced his State Visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam as he arrived at the Noi Bai International Airport in the capital city of Hanoi.

Upon the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong, this is the first visit to Vietnam of President Marcos Jr. since assuming office in 2022.

The President’s visit seeks to raise diplomatic ties between the two nations to even greater heights since the establishment of bilateral relations in 1976 and reinvigorate strategic partnership that was formed in 2015.

Vietnam is the Philippines’ only strategic partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region, with ties spanning across various areas of cooperation such as defense, security, maritime, agriculture and people-to-people relations.

Furthermore, the Philippines and Vietnam have set a goal of boosting their bilateral trade up to US$10 billion in the coming years.

First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos and the rest of the Philippine delegation composed of key Cabinet members from the Economic Team, House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and representatives from the business sector joined the President in his first outbound visit for the year.
