President Benigno S. Aquino III was welcomed by Myanmar President U Thein Sein as the 9th East Asia Summit (EAS)-Plenary Session gets underway on the final day of the 25th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Summits in Nay Pyi Taw.

The President arrived at the Myanmar International Convention Center (MICC) at 9:03 am and was warmly greeted by his counterpart as they posed for a photo opportunity.

In an interview with Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Alex Chua, the envoy said that the East Asia Summit “brings together ASEAN member countries and dialogue partners to discuss security concerns in the region and the world.”

“I expect that non-traditional issues such as climate change, Ebola outbreak and evolving regional security architecture will be high on the agenda,” Ambassador Chua stated.
