President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. expressed his commitment to strengthening the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) as he presided over the Mid-Year Command Conference 2025 at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo in Quezon City.
The high-level meeting focused on efforts to address internal and external security challenges. The Commander-in-Chief also commended the AFP for the orderly conduct of the May 12, 2025 midterm elections.
A highlight of the event was the launching of ‘Kanluran,’ a musical performance that pays tribute to the West Philippine Sea. The song serves as a rallying call for Filipino patriotism, vigilance and unity amid the ongoing territorial disputes in the region, emphasizing the importance of upholding the nation’s maritime sovereignty.
Key officials from the AFP, Department of National Defense (DND), National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), National Security Council (NSC), and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) were among those present at the meeting.
