President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. presided over a situation briefing on the effects of Super Typhoon ‘Julian’ at the Ilocos Norte Provincial Capitol in Laoag City.

The briefing highlighted the extent of the disaster, with reports showing that 34,859 families and 127,283 individuals were severely affected by the Super Typhoon. Infrastructure damage was estimated at PhP638 million while agricultural losses amounted to PhP350.8 million.

To assist the Province in its recovery, President Marcos Jr. turned over a check worth PhP100 million to the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte to support relief and rehabilitation efforts in the hardest-hit areas.

Before the briefing, the President conducted an aerial inspection of the Province to assess the widespread destruction, including submerged farmlands, damaged infrastructure and displaced communities.

In addition to the aerial assessment, the Chief Executive personally inspected the damaged dike in Barangay 34-A Gabu North which suffered significant damage due to the floods. He emphasized the need for immediate repairs to prevent further destruction.
