July 16, 2025

As part of the Administration’s broader effort to create a more efficient and accessible transportation system for all Filipinos, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. inspected the Camp Aguinaldo Station of the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) in Quezon City.

Spanning a total route length of 33.103 kilometers (km), the MMSP features 17 stations, a depot and the Philippine Railways Institute (PRI). It is designed to provide seamless travel of approximately 45 minutes from East Valenzuela Station to Bicutan Station and is expected to accommodate up to 519,000 passengers daily.

Contract Package 103 (CP103) includes two (2) stations — Anonas Station and Camp Aguinaldo Station — and three (3) interstation tunnels connecting East Avenue Station to Anonas, Anonas to Camp Aguinaldo, and Camp Aguinaldo to Ortigas Avenue Station. The total route length covered by this package is approximately 6.35 km.

In a media statement, the President underscored that the MMSP is one of the biggest projects under the DOTr aimed at improving the commuter experience.

Once completed, the usual travel time from Valenzuela City to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 — which currently takes over two (2) hours — is expected to be reduced to just 40 minutes.

The Chief Executive commended the precise and orderly excavation work of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), commending the Japanese engineers for their impressive work and their global reputation for excellence in heavy engineering and construction.

“Kaya I think we have picked the right partner and I am very happy to see the progress that’s being made,” he added.

To expedite the project’s completion and ensure that commuters benefit sooner, he said that the target completion date is set for 2028.

“Kaya I urge everyone to keep going, and we look forward to the day when we can say na nasakyan na natin ‘yung subway sa Pilipinas. We have taken the tube to go to work,” President Marcos Jr. concluded in his message.
