President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. administered the oath of office to Atty. Sharon Garin as the new Secretary of the Department of Energy (DOE) during a ceremony at the Study Room, Malacañan Palace.

Prior to her appointment as Secretary, she served as the DOE Officer-in-Charge (OIC) beginning in May 2025. She was also appointed as Undersecretary, during which she held key leadership positions, including Chairperson of the Nuclear Energy Program Coordinating Committee, head of Financial and Legal Services, and the Department’s Legislative Liaison.

From 2010 to 2022, Secretary Garin served in the House of Representatives. She made history as the first party-list representative elected as Deputy Speaker and the first female Deputy Speaker from the Province of Iloilo.

She is a lawyer by profession and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
