Continuing his visit to ground zero, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. inspected the newly constructed Marawi Dansalan Integrated School (MDIS) in Barangay Moncado Colony, Marawi City, Lanao del Sur.
With a total project cost of PhP519.6 million, the MDIS features 10 four (4)-storey school buildings. Each building houses 20 standard classrooms designed to serve students from kindergarten to senior high school who were displaced by the Marawi siege in 2017.
During the inspection, the President received a briefing on the progress of construction and the development of ancillary facilities aimed at enhancing the educational environment and providing additional resources for students, faculty and the community.
These facilities include the construction of a retaining wall and an automatic fire sprinkler system (AFSS); fencing, gates and electrical distribution systems with civil works; a footbridge; six (6) gazebos; four (4) guard houses; a covered court; stairs and ramps; a covered walkway with drainage; and other hardscape features, amounting to a total of PhP274.5 million.
Funded by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) under the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM), and later transferred to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 10 for implementation, this facility is part of the Bangon Marawi Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Recovery Program (BMCRRP). The program aims to rebuild critical social infrastructure and restore normalcy for the displaced residents of Marawi.
