President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. issued several directives to jumpstart the rehabilitation of the fire-damaged school building following his inspection at San Francisco High School (SFHS) in Bago Bantay, Quezon City.

In an interview with the media, President Marcos Jr. emphasized the importance of ensuring structural safety, instructing the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to demolish the damaged structure and construct a new four (4)-storey building with plans to accommodate up to 36 classrooms. This project is estimated to cost PhP180 million and is expected to be completed within a year.

He mentioned that the overloaded fuse box and aging structures are prone to electrical faults, which caused the fire last Sunday.

The Chief Executive also instructed the Department of Education (DepEd) to inspect other schools to ensure that only quality fuse boxes are installed. Furthermore, he assured the school community that all damaged equipment, school supplies and learning materials destroyed by the fire will be immediately replaced.

During the event, DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara delivered ten (10) computer sets to the school and allocated PhP100,000 for immediate needs. Other private organizations also extended aid, delivering 140 armchairs, as well as contributions of paint, toilet fixtures and surplus resources from other schools.
