Affirming the indomitable spirit and resilience of the Filipino people, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the Vin d’Honneur reception in celebration of the 127th Anniversary of Philippine Independence at the Ceremonial Hall in Malacañan Palace.

In his address to the Diplomatic Corps, President Marcos Jr. emphasized that the country continues to honor the legacy of its forebears by confronting modern challenges with courage and purpose.

The Chief Executive highlighted that since the start of his Administration three (3) years ago, reintroducing the Philippines to the global community has been a key priority. He stated that the government has actively promoted the country as open for business and partnership, especially with nations that share common democratic values and development goals.

Turning to the economy, the President reported a 5.4% growth in the first quarter of 2025, positioning the Philippines among the fastest-growing economies in Southeast Asia.

He also welcomed the significant drop in inflation to 1.3% in May 2025 — the lowest level in over five (5) years — describing it as a development that enhances the purchasing power of Filipinos and fosters a more stable environment for business.

As the country prepares to chair the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2026, President Marcos Jr. called for continued collaboration with the international community. He expressed his gratitude to the Diplomatic Corps for their ongoing support of the country’s economic and diplomatic initiatives.

The President concluded his remarks by raising his glass in a ceremonial toast, extending wishes for everyone’s good health, long life, enduring friendships and the strengthening of ties between the countries and peoples represented at the gathering.
